Miami Ranks Among Safest U.S. Cities, Gallup Poll Says
A new Gallup poll shows that Americans now think of Miami as one of the safest cities in the U.S.
According to survey, 59% of Americans consider Miami a safe city to live and visit – the 5th highest ranking city, and far ahead of cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, or San Francisco.
It is the first time since Gallup conducted the survey that the majority considered Miami to be safe.
It’s also a sharp contrast from 1990, when the same Gallup survey showed just 17% of Americans thought Miami was safe. It’s even a big jump from 2006, when just 38% thought Miami was safe.
Miami was also one of just five cities enjoying bipartisan support, with the majority of both Democrats and Republicans considering the city to be safe. Miami and Dallas were the only two U.S. cities that saw support from members of both parties at roughly equal levels ( 61% of Democrats and 58% of Republicans consider Miami safe).
